In yoga philosophy, the Yamas are ethical guidelines that help us navigate how we show up in the world and in relationship with others. 🌎 👫

The third Yama, Asteya, is often translated as non-stealing.

But Asteya goes far beyond physical theft.

It asks us to look at how we use (or misuse)…
time, energy, attention, and boundaries - both our own and other people’s.

Where are we taking more than we need?
Where are we giving more than we have?

Yoga doesn’t end when we roll up the mat.

It lives in these moments of awareness.

Hip openers don’t just stretch the body…they tell a story. 📕

The hips are where we often hold stress, unprocessed emotions, and nervous system tension. When we slow down and open this area, feelings can surface - not because anything is “wrong,” but because something is finally moving!

And truth is…we gotta FEEL to HEAL.

✨ Yoga Poses shown in this reel:

Lizard Lunge (Sanskrit name - Utthan Pristhasana)…
• Opens hip flexors & inner thighs
• Releases stored tension from sitting, stress, and overdoing

Frog Pose (Sanskrit name - Mandukasana)…
• Deep inner hip & pelvic opening
• Often associated with emotional and nervous system release

Butterfly Fold (Sanskrit name - Baddha Konasana)…
• Gentle hip and lower-back opener
• Encourages softness, surrender, and breath awareness

• A common place where stored emotions surface

Discomfort shows up in every pose. Sometimes, it shows up as strong physical sensations in the body (a.k.a that burning in the legs in Chair 🪑 pose or when you start to shake from holding a plank).

Sometimes, it shows up in the mind…like when we get frustrated or agitated when a shape or pose doesn’t feel “good”. Or is just “challenging” in general!

Yoga ultimately teaches us, in these moments, to BREATHE, re-assess, and STAY with ourselves as we feel ALL the “things” we can feel/notice while in a yoga pose.

And to softly, yet confidently, be by our sides… in all the moments we experience…on and off our yoga mat.

Your yoga mat is basically a mirror. 🪞
It reflects how your body AND mind has been feeling — and sometimes that mind is doing the most. 😣

Buddhism calls them the 5 hindrances: desire, aversion, sloth, restlessness, and doubt.
Yoga just calls them… Tuesday. 😂

The magic isn’t in avoiding these enemies that sometimes come up in a yoga practice. It is in noticing them - WITH your breath - to help break the pattern of reaction and to start showing up for yourself!

🍂 Fall into movement, laughter, and connection.

This season is all about slowing down, breathing in the crisp air, and finding joy in the simple things … like moving our bodies,, sharing space with friends (furry and human), and supporting our local gems along the way!

From floating in the silks in an Aerial Yoga class to flowing with baby goats at our favorite breweries, restaurants and vineyards, each class is a chance to reset, smile, and remember how good it feels to just be.

The “river” is always there … your thoughts, fears, the stories you replay, the weight of expectations.

Falling in is human.

We all slip into overthinking, self-doubt, or overwhelm. But yoga teaches us not to stay there. On the mat, when a pose feels too intense, we breathe. Off the mat, when life feels heavy, we remember: we are not the current, we are the awareness watching it.

The practice is not about never falling in. It’s about choosing to rise up again and again … with breath … with presence …with compassion. And a greater understanding of who we are.
